Rapids Re-cycle

Our second huge donation of Rapids FC uniforms, clothing, training gear, cleats and equipment was air freighted to Lagos, Nigeria and arrived mid-October, in time for a couple of teams to start their season well equipped! The second batch has been ground freighted, to arrive in time for Christmas and consists of 80+ pairs of cleats, 100+ uniforms shirts, 60 shorts, 30+ pairs of socks and numerous other items, all donated over the past year by Rapids families.

First Batch

Our first batch of donated gear made it to Nigeria!

The video says it all – our new friends now wearing your donated gear:

Donate your old gear and we’ll get someone else playing soccer.

Many of us have infrequently used soccer cleats and other equipment that our kids have grown out of, lying around at home. It’s easy enough to donate them to Goodwill, but Rapids FC have set up the “RE-CYCLE” program to get this lightly used soccer equipment right to kids who want to play, but cannot afford it. Donations will be sent to local Grand Rapids organisations and schools in need of gear, and partner schools in Nigeria and Ghana. We are looking for the following used items in clean, good condition:

  • Soccer cleats
  • Turf shoes
  • Soccer balls
  • Shin guards
  • Old uniforms and training jerseys

We will have drop-offs throughout the season at various events.
